Wednesday
Being formed by the word, works, and ways of Jesus is core to our mission at Calvary Chapel. One of the main pathways we provide for this formation is The Gathering on Wednesday nights.
For The Gathering, we host a variety of courses on our campus that target specific areas of life for deep discipleship. These courses meet in seasonal terms, several times a year, and include topics that touch on finances, prayer, marriage, emotional health, biblical studies, and more.
We strive to keep The Gathering accessible for our whole church community, so Kids Church is provided along with Junior High and High School ministries. Please see below for more information on The Gathering and how you can get involved.

We were made for worship; we were redeemed for worship. But what exactly is worship, and how do we live as worshippers in everyday life? In this class, we will explore how worship theology informs and enriches our everyday discipleship, both personally and communally. As we build a practical theology of worship from the Scriptures, we will consider topics such as the biblical language of worship, idolatry, music, the arts, and the transformative power of Christ-centered worship.

Join us for a six-week Bible Book Club, where we will dive into Scripture, explore its meaning, and apply its wisdom to our daily lives. Each week, we will read and discuss key passages, uncover historical and cultural context, and engage in meaningful conversations that will deepen our faith and understanding.
Whether you’re new to the Bible or a longtime reader, this study is designed to be welcoming, engaging, and thought-provoking. Through guided discussions and reflections, we will grow together in knowledge and faith.

In his last words to the disciples before going to the cross, Jesus gave two key points of encouragement as he talked about tribulation, or “trouble” saying, “Take courage! I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). During our time together, we will look through the Bible and consider lived experience, exploring and illustrating God's provisions and practices for enduring tough times, as well offering genuinely helpful support to others in their challenges.

“In the beginning God created ...” From the inception of the universe, we see creativity and storytelling woven throughout the pages of the Bible, mankind, and our very own lives. In this class, we will explore how the characters and worlds built by Jesus in the parables set the foundation for everything we know today about story, human connection, and the art of filmmaking. Through the lens of empathy and human connection, we will learn how to make space for others, listen to their journeys, and capture their stories on film with care and authenticity. The course will culminate in a hands-on project where participants will get to take part in the relational and technical components of preparing for, capturing, and editing a recorded interview to share with the world.

Most Christians are clear on what we believe about the gospel, but as has been said, “The longest journey you will ever take is the 18 inches from your head to your heart.” We want to be a community transformed by the gospel, bearing witness of Jesus’ generosity, kindness, and transforming love. In this class, we will learn to take the gospel from our heads to our hearts and to the lives around us.

Exploring the gifts of the Holy Spirit is such an essential part of understanding how God empowers us to serve, love, and build up the church. In this highly interactive class, you’ll discover what Scripture teaches about spiritual gifts, learn how to recognize and use your gifts in everyday life, engage in discussions and practical exercises to grow in the Spirit, and dive into More by Simon Ponsonby for deeper study. This course will provide an excellent opportunity to experience more of the Spirit’s presence and power while we learn to walk confidently in our gifts. Purchase More via Amazon.

Have you ever felt stumped about how to live out the Great Commission or made to feel like you are not living up to the Christian standard because you are not an extroverted evangelist who can walk up to anyone on the street? You are not alone! We all know that proclaiming the good news of the gospel is a part of our calling as followers of Jesus, but what can it naturally look like in our everyday lives? In this six-week course, we will unpack the beauty and simplicity of relational evangelism, see it exemplified in the life of Jesus, and become equipped to reach those around us in our communities, cities, neighborhoods, and families.
