Lead Pastor

Pastor Char Brodersen is the Lead Pastor at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa. Char pastored Refuge Christian Fellowship in Northern California for 13 years before moving back to Southern California in 2021 to join the leadership team of Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa. He and his wife Grace have been married since 2007, and they have three children. Char holds a Masters in Biblical Leadership from Western Seminary.

Our Backbone

Calvary Chapel’s structure is made up of staff and volunteer leaders. They are overseen and supported by these teams who offer practical and pastoral care within our church family.

  • The Executive Team works to cast and execute the vision of Calvary Chapel alongside the Lead Pastor. The team brings operational cohesion throughout the organization as they work alongside Calvary Chapel staff, endeavoring to guard and shape the culture, direction, and structure of our church and its ministries.

  • The Board is the governing body of the corporation, accountable for the business operations and liabilities of the 501(c)3 organization of Calvary Chapel of Costa Mesa. The Board provides input and guidance to the Lead Pastor concerning the affairs and activities of the corporation, endeavoring to fulfill the vision to be a Jesus Formed Community on Mission.
