Updates

Since the start of the fires in Los Angeles County in January 2025, we have sought to discover how we can come alongside those affected and lend a helping hand. Although the fires may not be in the news anymore, the devastation is still felt, and communities are still rebuilding both their structures, homes, and business, as well as their relationships and morale. We are so grateful that, as a church community, we were able to support those on the ground. See below for updates on all the Lord has allowed us to do.

  • First Wave - Serving for 5 weeks in Altadena

    We had the honor of coming alongside Blue Tape Ministries and the resource hub they were running out of the back storage room of Calvary Chapel Monrovia. We assisted with supply runs to families in hotels, behind the fire lines, those waiting beside their burnt homes, community members on the streets, and first responders. We were also able to donate financially to help keep some of the supplies running and hot meals to hand out to those in need. Many supplies were distributed, and many people were prayed for.

  • First Wave - Bringing power to those who needed it

    In reaching out to Calvary Chapel Malibu and their lead pastor, Brian La Spada, we found out they were in an elderly community that desperately needed power. His initiative during this time was to get generators for his neighbors and check in on them, quite literally bringing some light to the situation at hand.

    We were able to come alongside and donate toward the purchase of two generators. Thank you for your generosity!

  • Second Wave - Sitting with people

    As time progressed, the needs of those affected by the fires seemed to change. As many of the initial needs were met (and continued to be met by different relief organizations), we found that people just needed someone to talk to, a shoulder to lean on, and an attentive presence.

    We reached out to Steve Snook, a pastor and police chaplain we knew who served in the Palisades. We asked him how he was doing since he lost his home in the fire as well. Although he was grieving, he has a deep conviction that his community needed a space where they could be heard and share in their grief together.

    We came alongside him for six weeks, helping to bring volunteers for hospitality, sponsoring food and drinks for those in attendance.

  • Second Wave - Let's get the neighborhood together

    After weeks of serving alongside Steve Snook and his weekly gatherings for his neighbors, we came together to plan and host an event called “Pali Bowl Strong.” Steve wanted to see all of his neighbors come together for a night of unity, remembrance, and fun, to encourage them that even if they all have lost their homes, they have not lost community. There were over 100 people in attendance from his neighborhood, lots of amazing food, laughs, and memories made. Every single person in attendance was so blessed and shared how they were emotional seeing their neighbors for the first time in months.

    Through your generosity, we were able to sponsor the meeting hall at the Annenberg City Beach House, the food and drinks, and support the logistics and planning of the event.
