08/16/2026 Jesus Was Anointed (Luke 7)

In Luke 7, we find Jesus in the home of Simon the Pharisee. During this party a woman who wasn’t in invited, sought out Jesus. She didn’t want to come empty-handed so she brought with her a costly gift, which she anointed his feet with. Not allowing guilt, shame, fear, lack, or social niceties to stop her, she was led by faith to worship the Savior.  

Watching this interaction unfold in his home, Simon said to himself, “If this man were really a prophet, He would know who and what kind of woman was touching Him.” Although she was viewed as an unwanted guest by many, this woman is remembered in Scripture of one who Jesus noticed and honored for her bold belief and costly sacrifice.
