Arabic Fellowship

Overview

The Arabic fellowship at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa started in 1984 through the encouragement of Pastor Chuck Smith. A small Arabic speaking group met every Sunday morning for worship, prayer, and Bible study. Shortly after, Sunday and Wednesday evening meetings began at Calvary Chapel Downey.

Onsi J. Mousa started attending the Arabic Fellowship in 1986. God called him to become the pastor of the fellowship in 1993. Pastor Chuck Smith ordained Onsi in 1994, and the Arabic fellowship was incorporated in the same year under the name “Calvary Chapel Arabic Fellowship.” Pastor Mousa resigned from his secular job in 2004 to become a full-time pastor. He and his wife Mariam have one daughter, Elizabeth. She met Craig Walker who is from Birmingham, England, and there they live and attend and serve at Calvary Chapel Birmingham. Craig and Elizabeth have four children.

Vision Statement

Our vision is to be like Christ and become his instrument in fulfilling the great commission in our world.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to build strong and mature fellowship so that with them we can reach our community and the world with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Bible Inerrancy

We are committed as a church to biblical inerrancy. We assert that the Bible in its original manuscripts is without any error and is the ultimate authority in guiding our lives and ministry (2 Tim. 3:16).

Spiritual Maturity

One of our major goals is to bring our people to maturity in Christ (Eph. 4:11–13).

Empowering for the Great Commission

We believe that mature Christians are commanded to carry out the great commission as mandated by the Lord to his disciples before he ascended into heaven, and this is our aim for our fellowship (Matt. 28:1820).

Resources

We have Bibles, New Testaments, and Christian resources in Arabic for distribution to any who request them.
